Coaching Standards

Our Code of Conduct

At Eastside Development Academy, coaching is governed by structure — not emotion.

Development requires more than drills and repetition.

It requires:

  • Emotional regulation
  • Instructional clarity
  • Consistency
  • Integrity

These standards are non-negotiable.

They apply to every coach — including the Founder.

1. Emotional Regulation Standard

Coaches at EDA must remain regulated under pressure.

That means:

Intensity does not require instability.

Young athletes cannot develop in unpredictable environments.

Calm leadership is a professional requirement.

2. Instruction Protocol

All correction must follow a clear structure:

What happenedWhy it mattersWhat to try next

We do not use vague feedback such as:

  • “Be better.”
  • “Try harder.”
  • “You need work.”

Correction must be:

Specific.
Actionable.
Instructional.

Development requires clarity.

3. Equal Dignity Policy

Every athlete in a cohort is coached.

Not tolerated.
Not sidelined.
Not ignored.

Coaches must:

No favoritism.
No preferential treatment.
Skill levels may vary.
Dignity does not.

4. Private Performance Conversations

Sensitive performance feedback is delivered:

  • Privately
  • Calmly
  • Instructionally

Never:

  • Publicly
  • Emotionally
  • In a shaming tone

Athlete identity is never attacked.

Behavior and mechanics may be corrected.Character is not.

5. Rep Equity & Structure

EDA sessions are designed intentionally to prevent:

  • Idle standing
  • Skill hoarding
  • Hierarchical rotation patterns

Coaches are responsible for:

Structure prevents politics.

6. No Conflict of Interest

EDA operates with transparency.

If a coach has a child in a cohort:

  • No additional reps
  • No special treatment
  • No altered standards

Perception matters.

Trust requires visible fairness.

7. Professional Conduct

Coaches represent Eastside Development Academy on and off the court.

Professional standards include:

Coaching is leadership.

Leadership requires discipline.

8. Accountability

These standards are enforceable.

EDA maintains:

  • Advisory oversight
  • Clear feedback pathways
  • Annual coaching evaluation

If standards are violated, corrective action will occur.

Culture is protected intentionally.

9. What Athletes Can Expect

Every athlete who trains at EDA can expect:

They will be challenged.

They will not be destabilized.

Our Commitment

Eastside Development Academy exists to restore the foundation of youth athletic development.

We believe:

Development before exposure.
Structure before status.
Foundation before spotlight.

Coaching is the vehicle.

Standards are the guardrails.

And culture is protected deliberately.
