Eastside Development Academy is a youth basketball development academy serving the greater Eastside community.

12-athlete cohorts • 2 sessions per week • 12-week curriculum

You’re Not Imagining It

Youth sports aren’t broken.

But development has drifted.

Many programs say “development” — but structurally optimize for short-term winning.

Kids are told to:

  • “Go work on fundamentals.”
  • “Be more aggressive.”
  • “Play harder.”

Without being taught what fundamentals are.
Without being shown how to execute them.Without being coached calmly through mistakes.

Confidence drops.
Joy fades.
Politics creep in.

Eastside Development Academy exists to restore the foundation.

Foundation Before Exposure

We build the base most environments skip.

At EDA, we prioritize:

We teach what to do.
We demonstrate how to do it.
We correct specifically and calmly.

Because development collapses in environments governed by ego.

How The Academy Works

A development academy. Not a team.

Step 1 — ApplyEnrollment is based on alignment and capacity (12 athletes max per cohort).

Step 2 — Join a 12-Week CohortThree structured sessions per week. Written curriculum. Clear progression.

Step 3 — Build Fundamentals + ComposureLayered instruction. High repetition. No humiliation. No favoritism.

Step 4 — Prepare for Long-Term GrowthAthletes may compete elsewhere. EDA focuses on building the foundation that sustains performance.

We are not anti-competition.We are pro-readiness.

What Makes EDA Different

We protect the preconditions for development.

At Eastside Development Academy, coaching standards are non-negotiable:

Intensity without volatility.Accountability without shame.

What Your Child Will Learn In 90 Days

Real fundamentals. Installed deliberately.

Over 12 weeks, athletes work through a structured progression including:

  • Shooting base, release, and follow-through mechanics
  • Weak-hand dribble control at game speed
  • Proper layup footwork (both sides)
  • Defensive slides and closeout positioning
  • Movement without the ball and spacing awareness
  • Decision-making under mild pressure
  • Emotional recovery after mistakes

No random drills.

No scrimmage-only sessions.

Every session follows a defined architecture:

Movement Mechanics Application Structured Play Debrief.

Common Questions

But when do they play games?

EDA is a development academy, not a team.

Athletes are free to participate in recreational leagues, school teams, or club programs if they choose.
We focus on building the mechanical and emotional foundation that most environments assume but rarely install.

Competition without foundation shortens the runway.
We build the runway first.

How does this help for tryouts?

Tryouts evaluate:

  • Ball control
  • Shooting mechanics
  • Decision-making
  • Defensive awareness
  • Coachability
  • Composure

EDA trains those directly and systematically.

We do not promise roster spots. We prepare athletes to be capable.

Is this competitive enough?

Our sessions are demanding.

High repetition.
High accountability.
Clear standards.

But challenge does not require volatility.

We believe intensity and emotional instability are not the same thing.

What if my child wants elite basketball?

Foundation becomes even more important.

Elite environments demand:

  • Clean mechanics
  • Efficient movement
  • Emotional composure
  • Decision clarity

Exposure accelerates strengths — and weaknesses.

We strengthen the base first.

Led by a coach who understands performance — and development.

Keith Martin Fleming brings multi-sport competitive experience, years of coaching across levels, and a deep understanding of performance psychology and emotional regulation.

After competing and coaching at high levels — and observing the structural gaps in early development — Keith founded Eastside Development Academy to restore fundamentals, stability, and long-term growth.

Keith has coached youth athletes across multiple age groups and has spent years studying how confidence, instruction, and emotional stability affect athletic development.
